A community hero is a person who makes a meaningful impact on their neighbors through acts of charity or service. From the first responder who drives the fire truck in your Opening Ceremonies to the dedicated teacher who serves as a mentor for youths, these individuals are devoted to bringing people together and inspiring Little Leaguers(r) in their communities worldwide.
Community heroes have an intrinsic belief that they can make a difference no matter what challenges come their way. Their confidence may stem from above-average coping and stress management skills or their ability to see the big picture during difficult situations. They also have a higher tolerance for risk, meaning they will try even when they might fail.
Throughout the year, Little League International recognizes local heroes as part of its Community Hero program. Whether you are a volunteer coach or board member, or simply someone who supports your local Little League(r), we encourage you to nominate your own community hero today.
In addition to being a full-time employee at the Battery, Amanda volunteers her time with Charleston United Soccer Club and is an active participant in the Be a Mentor Program. She has been a huge asset to the organization by bringing the ticketing operation into the digital age and fostering stronger relationships with Little Leaguers(r) throughout Charleston.
Each month, KDKA and Alfa Insurance will select a Community Hero supported by Northwell who will receive four tickets to a Troy Athletics home game, in-game recognition and a social media post on the Trojans’ Instagram and Twitter accounts.
